When Cupid the Pitbull saw his owners packing up the family car, he probably thought they were all going on an adventure.
And when his family drove away without him, he thought they'd come back soon enough.
When are they coming back?
But as the days turned into weeks, heartbroken Cupid realised he was all alone. Still, the poor guy had nowhere else to go. So he refused to leave the front porch of the only home he knew.
That's when one of the neighbours contacted Janine Guido, founder of Speranza Animal Rescue.
After arriving at the house, Janine spent 30 minutes trying to earn the dog's trust. She told him that everything would be OK and that she was here to help.
Cupid soon overcame his nervousness and began to understand that he was no longer alone.
A new beginning for Cupid
Cupid is now settling into life at the shelter. And once his medical checks are complete, Janine will start searching for Cupid's forever home. Speaking to the Dodo, Janine said:
"I don't think that will be hard to find because he truly is the sweetest guy."
It's hard to imagine how anyone could abandon such a sweet dog. Thankfully, it won't be too long before this pooch begins a new life with someone who deserves a dog like him.
