One morning, while moving a group of kittens and several dogs at the rescue centre, Lori came across a mother cat and her newborn kittens.
Love at first sight
Lori was instantly smitten with the mother cat, named Marigold.
She was desperate to foster her, but her own home was already full of rescue kittens.
A month later, Lori returned to the centre to check on the little family.
The kittens were now walking, but they had only ever known the confines of their cage.
That day, Lori decided she had to open her home to them. The kittens and their mum left the rescue centre, on their way to their new foster home.
A new beginning
When she arrived at her new home, Marigold was delighted to have a comfortable room to raise her babies in.
The mother cat immediately showed Lori how much she appreciated her new life. She purred non-stop and would jump onto her new human's lap whenever she sat down.
As for the kittens, after living in a cage for the first month of their lives, Buzz Buzz, Bumble Bee, Shasta Daisy and Sunflower were thrilled to have more space to move around and play!
Lori helped the nursing Marigold by supplementing the kittens' feeds with two bottles a day to ensure they were well-hydrated.
Lori and her team are now working to get the mother cat to a healthier weight and provide her with dental care, so she can enjoy her meals without discomfort.
Marigold's sweet and fun personality will surely delight her future forever family once she is ready for adoption!
