A desperate meow
As Ashton Lemley, a tornado chaser, searched through the ruins left by the storm, he had no idea he was about to rescue a tiny creature.
As reported by People magazine, he heard a faint meow, which then stopped. Determined, Ashton kept searching despite the sudden silence, fearing for a moment that the animal hadn't made it. Five minutes later, the cry started up again, louder this time.
The heartwarming rescue
In a moving video captured by Ashton, the storm chaser can be seen gently lifting layers of insulation from a collapsed wall. His torch eventually illuminates a tiny, soaked, and terrified figure. "Oh my God, baby, are you okay? Are you okay?" he exclaims in the video. Luckily, the kitten didn't appear to have any obvious injuries.
Although he couldn't adopt the kitten himself due to allergies, Ashton announced that adoption offers have poured in to give the little one, now named Tornado, a loving home.
