Family search for cat for a week: their blood runs cold as they hear cries behind a wall

By Ludivine Mazzotti•

At the beginning of September, Lola the cat decided it was time for a little exploring.

While this adventure certainly satisfied the little cat's curiosity, it also gave her family a massive fright!

Lola had wandered all the way up to the top floor of the block of flats where her owners live.

A terrible trap

Continuing her adventure, she squeezed through a hole in the floorboards and ended up stuck upside down inside a wall. Poor Lola could neither back out nor wiggle herself free. She was completely trapped.

Naturally, her family were deeply worried when she failed to come home. They reached out to animal rescuer John Debacker for help. He came straight over and set up humane traps and cameras, hoping to catch a glimpse of the missing cat.

Faint meows

After searching for several days with no sign of Lola, her owners finally heard faint meows coming from behind a partition wall. To free the trapped feline safely, the rescuer called in a professional builder. They carefully made a hole in the wall, removing the plasterwork slowly to avoid hurting the cat.

Moments later, they finally spotted Lola behind the partition—incredibly weak, but alive. She had spent about a week in this cramped space, unable to move properly, without any food or water. How she managed to survive such an ordeal is a complete miracle.

Thanks to this fantastic teamwork, Lola is now back home and safe, resting after her terrifying ordeal. We wish her a speedy recovery and plenty of cuddles.
