The whole team immediately realised that the box didn't contain a vacuum cleaner, but a poor abandoned animal.
With their hearts pounding, they opened the box and found the adorable dog, Gladys, trapped inside.
In need of care
The team members carefully lifted Gladys out of the box and took her into the shelter so she could calm down and get warm. That very same day, rescuers from the Stand Up For Pits Foundation came to feed the shelter animals. When they met Gladys and heard her story, they knew they had to help.
Gladys was examined by a vet. She was underweight and suffering from a hernia and multiple infections. The rescuers gave her the right treatments to help her get back on her paws.
A very sociable girl
Despite everything she has been through, Gladys is a very sociable dog. She needs human contact to thrive and is always looking for cuddles. She loves to eat, be carried, and snores very loudly!
For now, the sweet dog is resting at the Stand Up For Pits rescue centre, where she will stay for a few more weeks before being put up for adoption. Her rescuers hope she will soon find a loving family who can give her all the affection and gentleness she needs.
