In January 2024, the sanctuary's rescuers came to the aid of Nimai, a calf who was barely a day old.
The calf was rescued from a situation where he and many other animals were being neglected. He was so tiny that the rescuers initially thought he was dead.
Finding his feet
Nimai needed a little time to find his feet at the farm. The rescuers also gave him specialised care, as the calf had very little energy when he arrived.
When 3-month-old Pyrenean Mountain Dog puppies Tofu and Tempeh arrived at the sanctuary, the three animals became inseparable.
The rescuers at Happy Compromise Farm + Sanctuary noticed straight away that Nimai, Tofu, and Tempeh shared a special bond.
The trio were born just two weeks apart and were the same size. It's worth noting that calves grow more slowly than dogs, and because he's an orphan, Nimai is developing slowly.
A pair of puppy bodyguards
Tofu and Tempeh watch over Nimai so closely, you'd think they were his bodyguards! They do everything they can to protect him and make sure he's never alone.
As puppies, Tofu and Tempeh are bursting with enthusiasm. Nimai, on the other hand, has a much calmer nature.
Despite their differences, the three best friends get on wonderfully, much to the delight of their rescuers!
