A cat owner had quite a surprise on his way home. As he was driving down a road near his house, a flash of white on the verge prompted him to slow down. Pulling into a nearby driveway, he came face to face with his cat, Grayson, sitting calmly in the grass and looking completely unbothered about being found.
The scene, filmed and posted on 20th November on TikTok by user @jbzoo2222, quickly caused a stir online. The man explains that he lives on a farm with 17 cats, including Grayson, who usually sticks close to home. Finding him nearly a six-minute drive away took him completely by surprise, instantly earning the feline adventurer the nickname "naughty Grayson".
An unwelcome rescue
In a follow-up video, his owner explains how he bundled Grayson into his van to take him home. It was a journey the cat was clearly not happy about, as he meowed non-stop to protest the premature end to his escapade.
How far do cats really roam?
According to PetsRadar, domestic cats roam an average of about 200 metres from their home. Those living in the countryside, like Grayson, can explore much further than city cats due to the wide-open spaces, fewer neighbours, and a lower cat population. A report by the Zoological Society of London, which tracked 925 cats across six countries, shows that most stay within a territory of about half a square mile. However, some adventurers travel much further, with the most daring covering over three square miles.
The video has already racked up over 171,000 views and nearly 20,000 likes, with viewers clearly amused by the secret adventures of this truly one-of-a-kind cat.
