Passer-by spots a suspicious box and finds two scrawny kittens inside

The fate of two tiny creatures hung in the balance on a pavement in Bezons, France. Barely a week old, two kittens had been abandoned in a simple shoebox, left to fend for themselves against the dangers of the street.

The discovery sparked outrage at the French charity Les Patounes de Bezons. Found in a box left on the tarmac, the two newborn kittens were extremely vulnerable. Without the swift intervention of a passer-by, their fate would have been sealed. Hypothermia, starvation, or other street dangers could have claimed their lives in just a few hours.

The charity did not hide its anger at what it described as a "deeply shocking" act. Beyond the kittens' plight, the volunteers are also worried about the mother cat, who is likely searching for her babies right now.

Immediate care

As soon as the alarm was raised, the two orphans were taken to safety by the charity. Given their very young age, they were urgently placed with a foster family experienced in bottle-feeding.

At just seven days old, the kittens were described as being "scrawny" and particularly fragile. A rescue plan is now in place to give them the best possible chance of survival:

  • Warming: Constant warmth to fight hypothermia.

  • Feeding: Regular bottle feeds.

  • Care: Medical support and a permanent human presence.

A fragile hope

The charity is hoping with all its heart that the next few days will be crucial for their development. This rescue once again highlights the importance of public responsiveness when it comes to animal distress. The team at Les Patounes de Bezons also wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you to the person who acted so quickly, preventing a tragic end for these two little lives.
