Kimberly, a resident of Oklahoma in the United States, had just finished her session at a gym when she spotted a small dog sitting outside in the rain through the glass doors. The animal seemed lost, motionless, his gaze turned towards the inside. No one around, no lead, no owner in sight.
Touched by the scene, the young woman approached slowly. The dog was soaked and frightened, but didn't try to run away. He simply seemed exhausted. Without hesitating, Kimberly wrapped him in towels she found at the gym, then took him to her car to get him to safety.
A new beginning
Back at home, the little dog calmed down immediately. After hours spent outside, he fell asleep almost at once, as if relieved to finally be safe. The next day, Kimberly took him to the vet to check his health. The animal wasn't wearing an identification chip, but he was doing well, despite a few parasites that were treated during the visit.
Kimberly realised she couldn't bring herself to let him go. She chose to adopt him and offer him a new life. As a nod to where they met, she named him Pluto.
From stray dog to future therapy dog
Since his rescue, Pluto has flourished. He loves going for walks, running in the garden and playing with his new companion, a little Pug. Calm and sociable, he's proved to be remarkably gentle. Kimberly has therefore set about having him trained as a therapy dog, so that he can, in turn, bring comfort to other people.
Today, Pluto leads a happy and peaceful life.
