A few weeks ago, dogs were spotted playing in the garden of an abandoned house.
Donna, the head of rescue operations at Stray Rescue of St. Louis, was called out and made her way to the scene.
As reported by The Dodo, the woman soon realised that this rescue would bring its fair share of surprises. She quickly understood that her single crate wouldn't be enough. With two dogs to rescue, Donna set about making a plan. On top of these dogs, there were also puppies that couldn't be found.
Eight puppies found
Before searching for the puppies, she managed to lure the adults with treats to get them to safety.
After some searching and thanks to directions from two construction workers, she managed to locate the puppies. And that's how she got her hands on eight puppies.
After a visit to the vet and several weeks in foster homes, the puppies were put up for adoption.
Whilst the puppies found families quickly, the two adult dogs had a much harder time.
Prize and Award are still waiting for a loving home. In the meantime, they continue to be pampered by the rescue.
