It was a heroic evening that Jackie McKinney will never forget. As reported by Newsweek, her neighbour didn't hesitate to enter the burning house to save the lives of three dogs trapped by the toxic smoke.
The incident happened a year ago. Footage shared on TikTok shows Annabelle, a four-year-old Old English Sheepdog, Chewpy, a three-year-old Shih Tzu-Poodle cross, and Delilah, a 13-year-old blind Pit Bull, pacing anxiously in the room as thick black smoke begins to fill the space.
A dramatic rescue caught on camera
Just when it seems the animals have no way out, a man appears on screen. He kicks down the front door before hastily guiding the three dogs to safety outside.
It was a true miracle, as the family was a three-hour drive from home at the time of the tragedy.
"I will be eternally grateful to this neighbour"
As the heroic neighbour later explained, he initially thought the owners were inside. After banging loudly on the door with no response, he made the decision to break it down.
"When we arrived, the house was completely destroyed, but the fire was under control. Everything we owned was gone, except for our dogs. I will be eternally grateful to this neighbour," said Jackie, the homeowner.
