On 14th October, the rescue took in a dog called Brandy.
Harleigh had never seen a dog of this colour before.
An unusual colour
Indeed, Brandy's coat was a greyish brown. But as Harleigh got closer to the dog, she realised she'd made a mistake. Brandy wasn't grey at all—she was just extremely dirty. Brandy's owner had surrendered her to the rescue, along with another dog. Both were covered in grime and fleas.
The rescuers don't know much about Brandy's past, but one thing is certain. The dogs must have either lived outside or in a very dirty place.
Brandy had her very first bath. The poor dog was frightened and exhausted. The rescuers washed her gently with soap and water. It took an hour and a half to remove all the grime from her coat. Afterwards, Brandy had completely transformed! Her coat was fluffy and a brilliant white. Without her speckled muzzle, no one would have recognised her!
All is well
Next, Brandy had a full medical examination and treatment for fleas. The dog is around two years old and in good health. However, the vet noticed that her pupils were different sizes and confirmed that the dog was deaf. With this information, the rescue team were able to adapt Brandy's care accordingly.
The staff spent a great deal of time encouraging her to play and showing her the affection she needed to come out of her shell. Brandy has become very affectionate. The rescuers believe this brave dog won't be waiting long for adoption, and we hope she finds her loving home very soon!
