Dog dumped in a graveyard: her microchip reveals the unbelievable truth

Chloe Palousek’s heart broke when she logged onto Facebook at the beginning of March.

The first thing she saw was a post about a poor, abandoned dog who desperately needed help.

All alone in the world

A brown and white dog had been left all alone in a graveyard. He was lying in his pink bed, and it looked as though someone had simply dumped him there with all his belongings. Chloe immediately rushed to the scene with her sister, who is also an animal rescuer in Texas, USA.

When the two women arrived at the graveyard, they couldn’t see the little dog at first. They had to walk a few yards before they finally spotted the Chihuahua hiding under a gazebo. As they approached, he started to tremble, growl and bark.

Winning her trust

Chloe placed some food in a humane trap and gave the little dog some space to build her confidence. It wasn't long before she trotted over to the food and began to eat hungrily. The rescuers then realised that the little dog was actually a female and was wearing a collar with her name: Viola.

Just 15 minutes after being rescued by Chloe and her sister, Viola relaxed and started asking for cuddles. The rescuers took her to a vet, where a scan revealed she was microchipped and her details were up to date. When they contacted Viola's owner, he admitted that he had indeed abandoned the dog with all her belongings, as he could no longer afford to look after her. The rescuers then began searching for a foster family for the little dog.

Since then, Viola has been adopted. She has put on weight and is now thriving with her canine siblings. We are so happy for her and wish her all the best for the future.
