Brownie was callously abandoned, tied to a fence near a busy motorway in the US.
Next to her was a piece of cardboard on which her former owner had written a note explaining the circumstances that had led to her abandonment.
A heartbreaking note
The little sign read: "Owner wasn't taking care of her and I don't have the money to pay surrender fees. Please love her and find her a forever home."
Brownie was taken to the Associated Humane Societies Newark animal shelter in New Jersey. When the little dog arrived at the shelter, rescuers were worried about how she would adapt to kennel life. The dog needed plenty of exercise, and living confined in a kennel isn't ideal for a growing pup.
Help from online supporters
The video posted by the AHS shelter on TikTok sharing Brownie's story sparked numerous reactions. As people said in the comments: "Brownie needs a hero for life! She's super adorable" And also: "She's so cute! I hope she finds a home soon".
The video ultimately had a positive impact: Brownie has been adopted for life! Whilst rescuers are delighted for the dog, they want to remind people that many shelter dogs are still waiting to be adopted. We hope they find their loving homes very soon.
