On the winding roads of Murphy Hollow Spring, Georgia (USA), two shadows caught the attention of motorists.
As reported by The Dodo, a good Samaritan quickly contacted Luck's Rescue after approaching these shadows.
They turned out to be two poodles wandering in the middle of the road. Audray, the founder of the rescue, then made her way to the scene to help them.
A new beginning for one of the poodles
Audrey and her partner tried to coax the two dogs towards them, without success. The couple decided to return the following day to try again.
Sadly, the couple discovered that the black poodle had been fatally injured. "Her sister never left her side and was waiting beside her, which was heartbreaking to see," Audray recalls.
In the midst of this tragedy, the surviving dog finally allowed herself to be rescued. After receiving a clean bill of health, the dog, named Princess Anastasia, was placed in foster care, where she was finally able to decompress in the comfort of a loving home.
Fortunately, Princess has recently been adopted by a family who are giving her the most wonderful life.
