Winston was one of 250 dogs rescued from what RSPCA manager Anna White described as the worst scene she had ever witnessed. Now he is thriving in his new home.

Dog lovers around the world were left in disbelief, after an image was shared of 250 matted Poodle crosses living in "horrendous" conditions

The RSPCA took 87 of the dogs into their care, providing veterinary care and behaviour support while they waited to find their forever families.

"A trembling wreck"

Winston was terrified of people when he first came into rescue. But the Bream family, who already had an 8-year-old dog called Daisy, could tell he was the dog they wanted to join their family.

"He was a trembling wreck - you could immediately tell how nervous he was."He cautiously licked my husband's hand as if he wanted to interact with us but he wasn't sure he should." explained Daisy.

Loving his new life

After weeks of bonding, Winston's family brought him home.

Slowly, with lots of love and patience, the Poodle cross has blossomed. He now greets his humans with a wagging tail, and he happily goes out for walks.
