On 18th September, a witness alerted Urgence Maltraitance Animale (dept 44) in France after a couple left a puppy tied to a tree at the edge of a field. Terrified, the young dog managed to break free and ran after the vehicle, narrowly avoiding an accident. The act of abandonment, though cruel, paradoxically revealed the worrying state of the puppy, named Moka.
When he arrived at his foster home, Moka showed extreme hunger and a concerning level of emaciation. Riddled with parasites and starving, he threw himself at the water and tried to eat everything he could find around him. This was a clear sign that he had been neglected for a long time.
A necessary rescue
The witness's vigilance and the foster family's swift intervention meant that Moka received immediate care. His fragile state now requires a suitable diet and veterinary monitoring to treat his malnutrition and parasites.
The complaint filed against those responsible for the abandonment marks the start of proceedings to uphold the law and protect vulnerable animals. Thanks to this intervention, Moka can now begin a new life in safety.
Moka will remain under the supervision of his foster family until he is adopted. With attentive monitoring and appropriate care, he will gradually regain his strength and trust in humans.
