We can see the adorable Golden Retriever at his home in New Zealand.

In the video below, we discover that the pooch has a main mission.

A working mission

Indeed, when he was a puppy, his human raised him to round up sheep. We can see Marley, now one year old, confidently approaching a flock of sheep to carry out his usual task: herding.

However, what happens next reveals an unexpected twist. We see the pooch cowering in the corner of the field, whilst a sheep approaches him... The roles are completely reversed! In the caption, Marley's owner wrote: "*Trained to herd sheep, the sheep herd him.*"

They're in stitches

Golden Retrievers are very intelligent dogs. They're eager to please their humans. However, they're more commonly used for retrieving game, serving as assistance animals or being wonderful family dogs. Traditionally, herding tasks are entrusted to breeds such as Border Collies and Australian Kelpies. Both are renowned for their intelligence, responsiveness to commands and strong work ethic.

Internet users burst out laughing when they saw Marley's mission completely fall apart: "I forgot to give him the instruction manual," commented one user. Another shared: "Aren't retrievers better at retrieving?" Many were encouraging: "We'll try again tomorrow, don't worry mate."
