What was meant to be a simple weigh-in turned into a viral sensation on social media. As reported by Newsweek, Enzo, a seven-month-old Golden Retriever, surprised his family and over 60,000 internet users with a weight far beyond their expectations.
Quite the heavyweight
Despite being fed the same way since he arrived, Enzo has turned out to be a particularly large pup, much to his owners' surprise. At just seven months old, the dog weighs an incredible 84 pounds (38 kg).
His owners explain that this weight gain isn't down to greediness, but rather natural growth linked to his lineage. Enzo comes from a line of Golden Retrievers known for a more robust stature, longer legs, and a generally larger frame than the so-called 'field-bred' Goldens.
A healthy, happy pup
To ensure Enzo stays in good health, his family recently adjusted his diet. He now eats a mix of puppy and adult kibble and is also given joint supplements, which are essential for a breed prone to hip and joint problems. His owner, Katie, adds that Enzo has regular check-ups with the vet, who has not found any particular issues.
