Jane Dickinson was devastated when she had to rush her eight-year-old Saint Bernard, Maisy, to the vet. The poor dog was suffering from severe digestive issues, and her owner was desperate to have her examined as soon as possible.
Tests reveal a cancerous tumour
After examining Maisy, the vet revealed she had a large cancerous tumour in her stomach. Surgery was needed to remove it.
However, given the size of the tumour and Maisy's age, the veterinary team explained to Jane that her chances of survival were slim. Jane was heartbroken by the news, but she knew that surgery was the only hope of saving her beloved dog.
A shocking discovery during surgery
When the veterinary team operated on Maisy, they couldn't believe their eyes. There was no tumour at all. Instead, inside her stomach, they found several soft toys in perfect condition! This was the real cause of the lump in her stomach.
The vet carefully removed the toys, which must have been there for months. After a few days of post-operative care, Maisy was back to her lively self, much to her owner's relief.
Once the danger had passed, Jane realised where the toys had come from. Her naughty dog had been stealing them from her two Chihuahua brothers! For the past year, she had been secretly swallowing their toys to avoid being caught.
Now, all the toys are kept well out of Maisy's reach to prevent any more trouble. We are so happy to hear that Maisy is in perfect health and can continue to play safely with her two little brothers!
