When Maltese puppy Plume arrived home in February this year, she immediately became a much-loved member of the family.
Playful, friendly and loving, her family cherished every moment with her by their side. Then, at just 8-months-old, they received a shocking diagnosis.
A rare congenital condition
Plume was diagnosed with partial atrioventricular septal defect (partial AVSD), a rare congenital heart condition that has caused a problem with the structure of her heart.
Vets have suggested Plume has surgery, but this comes at a huge cost.
Fundraising to help Plume
Devasted by the diagnosis and unable to cover the costs, Plume's family decided to launch an emergency fundraiser.
"Her heart surgery is planned for November 10, 2026, and I need to have the funds ready by that date." explained her owner.
"When I look at her, I think about all the ordinary days I want us to have: watching her grow, celebrating her first birthday and bringing her home after treatment. I am asking for help because I cannot raise the money for her heart surgery on my own in the time we have" she continued.
"If you choose to support Plume I would love to share the little life you are helping: photos, short videos, and updates before surgery and through her recovery" writes Ayana. "If anything remains, it will help another dog who needs a chance".
