The terrifying ordeal took place at a home in Buckingham when Jolene Cooper spotted a woman bending over in the hallway to grab the nine-week-old Chihuahua.
The intruder quickly shoved the tiny dog into her bag before fleeing the property.
Puppy stolen
Shocking footage shows the backpack shaking as the frightened puppy squealed and tried to break free. Jolene can be heard shouting, “Give me back my puppy!” as she pursues the thief down the street.
The girl’s grandmother, Jo, 53, who had been advertising a litter of six pups for sale, said she was “very proud” of her granddaughter for acting so quickly, but admitted the incident left her uneasy. “We’ve given people the chance to buy them and they’re taking advantage of our good nature,” she said.
Police investigation
Thames Valley Police confirmed they received a report of a burglary on 1 September. A spokesperson said, “A suspect has been identified and is being treated as a person of interest. Enquiries remain ongoing.”
The puppy was later reunited with the family.
