Dog walkers who encountered Milly and Bess were always full of admiration.
They constantly asked what mix the dog was, but the devoted owner had no idea what to say.
An extraordinary look
Bess's appearance certainly stood out from the crowd!
She had the classic markings of a Husky, with the characteristic long fur and the floppy ears of a Golden Retriever.
Milly had adopted Bess from her local rescue, having met the puppy and her littermates at an adoption event. Their stay at the rescue didn't last long: the entire litter was adopted within 30 minutes!
According to the rescue's website, Milly knew the dog was a Retriever cross, and her colouring suggested she was probably part Husky too. She decided to do a canine DNA test to find out the truth.
Clear results
When the results arrived, it was clear that Bess was 50% Golden Retriever, with the remainder mainly made up of Siberian Husky and a small percentage of Border Collie. Milly couldn't resist sharing the photos and test results to Reddit.
In the comments, users were amazed by Bess's unusual appearance: "Wow! She's gorgeous!!! Those markings and that face," wrote one.
"So cute. 50% Golden, 50% Husky, 110% adorable." agreed another.
