There was a hand-scrawled message on the side.
The box read: "Free puppy". Inside, an 8-week-old white puppy was curled up.
A call for help
The resident quickly called animal control to rescue the pup. Animal control officers took the puppy to their kennel, where it stayed for a short time.
Then, the East Coast Bulldog Rescue stepped in to provide the puppy with further care.
Once the rescuers collected the puppy, they discovered she was a very sweet and adorable little girl.
The rescuers named her Roxy and shared her story online.
A new home
Roxy quickly stole the hearts of the rescue's followers on social media.
In fact, it was among the rescue's followers that Roxy found her new forever family.
Her new family had previously adopted a dog from the rescue. Having recently lost their beloved pet, they decided to open their hearts once more.
Roxy is now safe and warm in her loving forever home, and we wish her the happiest of lives!
