Springer Spaniels Bonnie and Clyde have been through a lot together, explains the team at Underdog International.
They were found by volunteers having fallen into a swimming pool, where they struggled for an hour just trying to survive.
Enduring difficult times together
"The pair were taken to the vet where we were told they were roughly around eight years old, but they were in such a bad way that it was hard to determine," the rescue wrote. "They want to be together all the time and judging by the condition of their poor bodies when they came into the shelter, they have endured a miserable life together."
When the inseparable pair first arrived, they were in terrible physical condition. Bonnie seemed exhausted from years and years of breeding. With sore joints, infected eyes and patches of missing fur, she whined every time she tried to walk. Heartbreakingly, Clyde also had very poor muscle mass, which lead the team to believe they had ensured endless years of confinement.
Thankfully, their swimming pool ordeal actually marked a new beginning, and the dogs were immediately given the veterinary treatment they desperately needed. Some months on, they are happier, healthier and ready to find their new home.
Their unbreakable bond
"Bonnie is a sweet, gentle girl, and although she's a little more subdued than Clyde, she wears the trousers when it comes to demanding ear nibbles and choosing where she sits first. She bops him on the head when she wants his attention! " shared Underdog International on their website.
"Clyde dutifully agrees to whatever she wants - he just loves her. He’s a soft, silly boy who doesn’t ask for much and has a very charming, goofy side to his personality."

Having endured so much hardship together, the team feel Bonnie and Clyde must stay together. Sweet-natured, affectionate and incredibly gentle, these two golden oldies deserve a retirement home where they can love and be loved for the rest of their days.
They can travel to the UK this month, with rescue back up provided by the charity.
