When Nong realised how unwell her dog Devil was, she rushed him to her trusted vet. After a brief examination, the vet recommended an X-ray.
The results were, to say the least, shocking: Devil had dozens of yellow rubber ducks in his stomach. There were so many that the vet couldn’t even count them all.
Nong wasn’t entirely surprised by the images; she had already noticed that several ducks were missing from a box of pool toys she had bought just a few days earlier.
Emergency surgery for the dog
With the cause of the problem now clear, the two-year-old Bulldog required emergency surgery to remove the rubber ducks before they could pass into his intestines.
Despite the delicate nature of the procedure, the vet successfully removed the ducks one by one. By the end of the operation, a total of 32 ducks had been extracted, an astonishing number given their size and the other objects found.
Fortunately for Devil, the surgery went well. Within a few weeks, he was back home with his relieved owner.
A lesson for all pet owners
Devil was very lucky. Without the swift action of his owner and the veterinary team, the situation could have been much more serious.
His story is an important reminder to all pet owners: always choose toys specifically designed for pets and keep a close eye on them when other potentially dangerous items are within reach.
