Police are investigating a dangerous discovery a young woman made on a country path.
For Selina S. from Frauenfeld, Switzerland, the day started like any other. She was walking her eleven-month-old Labrador, Milow, along a country path when suddenly, the dog ran ahead and ate something from the ground.
"I thought it was sand," says Milow's owner. However, she quickly realised it was an odd mixture of oats and powder. At that moment, she had no idea how dramatic the following hours and days would become.
Emergency treatment
Milow briefly choked, but at first, it seemed like no major problem. By evening, however, things took a turn for the worse: the Labrador developed severe stomach pain and began vomiting. Concerned, Selina called the vet, who initially downplayed the symptoms. "They told me it wasn’t serious," recalls the dog’s owner.
The next morning, Milow's condition worsened dramatically. Selina returned to the vet, who immediately put him on a drip and administered pain medication.
Desperate for answers, Selina decided to return to the country path where Milow had eaten the mysterious substance.
Dog poison
Selina rushed back to the clinic with a sample of the suspicious mixture. It was soon discovered that the "muesli" contained raisins, which are highly toxic to dogs and can cause life-threatening kidney damage. But there was more: "There was another powder in the mixture, but we don’t know what it was," Selina explained.
Selina reported the incident to the police, believing the mixture was deliberately placed there.
Selina now faces huge treatment costs, which have already exceeded over £2,700. To help cover these costs, she has started a fundraiser.
"We never thought something like this could happen so quickly," she says. "Milow is only eleven months old."
