Los Angeles is facing massive wildfires that have forced thousands of residents to evacuate and destroyed nearly 1,500 buildings.
This fire, dubbed the "Palisades Fire", is already considered the most destructive in the city's history.
Veterinarian to the rescue
In the face of this tragedy, which has already claimed five lives, people are coming together to help.
As reported by People magazine, Annie Harvilicz, a California vet who runs several clinics in Marina del Rey, Laguna Vista and Harbor City, posted a message on Facebook. She's opening her clinic to offer pets of affected residents a safe place to stay.
20 dogs, 20 cats and a rabbit
"I have an empty old vet hospital in marina del Rey. I am happy to house any animals that need to be evacuated. If you know anyone who needs to leave and doesn’t have a place for their pets please have them email me at drannieawc@gmail.com and I can open up the old hospital for temporary housing," the post reads.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the vet explains that so far, she has "taken in about 20 dogs, 20 cats and her brother's rabbit, Oreo".
