Barely able to hold her head above water, the little ginger kitten was heartbreakingly close to drowning. But thankfully, help had arrived just in time.
Kyle grapped hold of her as he tipped the barrel over. She let out one loud meow, clearly frightened but still fighting to survive.
Shocking CCTV footage
Kyle rushed the kitten home, where he dried her off and fed her.
Then, while she rested, he tried to work out what had happened.
The CCTV footage clearly showed the kitten happily climbing around, before accidentally falling into the drum. If her rescuer hadn't found her when he did, there's no way she would have made it.
Becoming a cat dad
Before finding Lilo, as she was later named, Kyle had never pictured himself as a cat dad. Devoted to his Saint Bernard, he never imagined the two would get along.
But shortly after her rescue, Lilo showed everyone who ruled the roost.
She now pounces and jumps at her giant friend, completely fearless despite their size difference. And Kyle couldn't imagine his life without her.
