A Wrexham mechanic has been praised after saving a starving eight-week-old kitten that wandered into his workshop on Tuesday afternoon.

Stefan Prach, who runs SP Autocare on Wrexham Industrial Estate, spotted the tiny black kitten sheltering beside a gearbox before she bolted deeper inside and hid under a car.

Using small bits of tuna and ham, he coaxed her out, only for her to climb into the engine bay of a nearby van.

Kitten in danger

Fearing for her safety, he removed the airbox to lift her out safely.

Stefan immediately contacted local rescuer Paul Conway, founder of the Candy and Tibby Trust, who took the kitten into his care.

Paul described her condition as one of the worst he had seen, weighing just 200 grams and too weak to eat on her own. He hand-fed her hourly until she gradually regained strength.

A hopeful new chapter

Paul believes the kitten, now named Stephanie, had been abandoned due to her friendly nature. As her recovery continued, Stefan remained in close contact for updates.

The kitten is now thriving, and Stefan’s sister-in-law, who had recently lost her own cat, is set to adopt her this week, bringing a heartwarming end to the story.
