Cat with broken legs found in bin: animal lovers donate €4,000 to save his life

By Ludivine Mazzotti

At around 4:30 am on Friday, 24th April, in the town of Tours, France, a woman named Camille witnessed an act of extreme cruelty.

She saw a man throwing a cat into an underground bin.

The man told Camille, "The cat is dead."

A desperate rescue

However, Camille heard meowing. There was indeed a live cat at the bottom of the bin, just out of reach. She and her partner called the police and the fire brigade, who rushed to the scene to rescue the animal. They discovered the poor cat had deformed legs.

He was taken to a vet for emergency treatment. X-rays revealed that both of his front legs were broken, and he had multiple fractures. No one knows how he sustained his injuries, but the result was the same: the cat, who they named Argo, desperately needed help.

An outpouring of support

The vet bill came to €2,000. To cover the cost of his operation, the team at the Les Moustaches de Roméo rescue centre set up an online fundraiser. The public response was incredible: within a few hours, they had received €2,000 in donations, which meant Argo could have his surgery.

A few days later, the rescuers launched a second appeal to cover the cat's recovery costs. In total, they received €4,000 to save him. The shelter said they had never witnessed such an outpouring of support.

The money raised will cover all of Argo's care and will also help the other cats at the rescue. We wish Argo all the best in finding a loving family to take care of him and help him put his painful past behind him.
