At the end of 2025, a woman travelled to Porto Rico. Her only goal was to enjoy the paradise island and get some well-deserved rest.
However, her plans were completely turned upside down when she met a friendly tabby cat.
As soon as she arrived, she noticed a tomcat wandering alone in the hotel grounds. While the other animals kept their distance, this particular cat approached her without any hesitation.
As reported by the website LoveMeow, the tourist found ways to bring him food and offer him a little comfort.
On the day she was due to leave, while packing her bags, she took a photo of her new friend as a keepsake.
An incredible show of solidarity
When she returned to the United States, she found an organisation called “Furiend Flight”, run by Margarita Potts, to help bring him back to the US for adoption. The organisation was dedicated to helping stray cats in Porto Rico.
In early 2026, Margarita decided to travel to Porto Rico to try and find the cat. She searched tirelessly for six weeks, posting photos online and asking if anyone had seen him.
A new beginning
Miraculously, the cat was found. Margarita took him into her flat while all the arrangements were made for his journey to the United States.
Thanks to this incredible show of solidarity, Diego arrived safely in southern New Jersey. Luckily, the ginger cat quickly found a loving new home.
