In 2021, a stray dog appeared at the entrance of Ceyhun Satir's appliance shop in Turkey. He offered the hungry pup some food, never expecting anything in return.
But it seems the encounter marked the beginning of a beautiful friendship, with the stray dog returning time after time to visit the kind samaritan.
A regular visitor
It wasn't long before these visits became the highlight of the shopkeeper's days, he told The Dodo.
"I named him Ares", Ceyhun explained. "He always comes to me and I feed him".
Even though the animal lover wasn't in a position to formally adopt Ares, Ceyhun was delighted to know that he could make the stray dog's life a little happier.
"He's more human than many others"
Ares seemed to recognise Ceyhun's kindness, and one day, a remarkable thing happened.
While sitting in his shop, Ceyhun noticed Ares at his door. And as he approached to say hello, he noticed that the dog had brought him a small gift.
Upon closer inspection, he realised that Ares had brought him a chicken drumstick. A gesture that moved the shopkeeper to tears.
"Ares is my brother, and I am his (...) To me, he's more human than many others".
