The dog, named Cactus, was spooked by a sudden clap of thunder and instinctively turned to his owner, Mike Brown, for reassurance.
The touching moment was shared on Instagram via Cactus’s account, @cactustherescue, where it quickly went viral, racking up more than 248,000 views and nearly 19,000 likes.
Frightened pup
In the clip, Cactus is seen snuggling up to Brown as thunder rumbles in the background. “Comforting my rescue puppy after he was scared by thunder,” reads the on-screen text. Brown gently pets and kisses the dog, reassuring him with calm affection.
“Cactus is still getting used to the South Florida weather,” Brown wrote in the caption. “He heard a loud thunder and it spooked him out. Poor little guy.”
Cactus is in safe hands
Followers were quick to praise the heartwarming bond between the pair. “Cactus is so unbelievably sweet and gentle,” wrote one commenter. Another added: “Don’t worry, Cactus, your daddy is always there to protect you.”
