Christopher Moorhouse from Edlington, was arrested in May 2024 after officers discovered the dogs at his property.
Described as “squalid”, the environment led to Moorhouse being charged with three counts of causing unnecessary suffering to animals.
10-year pet ban
He appeared at Doncaster Magistrates' Court on 21 May and was handed a decade-long ban from keeping animals. In addition to the ban, he received a community order, a £200 fine, a £114 victim surcharge and was ordered to pay £85 in court costs.
Acting police sergeant Sam Bush said: “Moorhouse proved himself to be the complete opposite of a responsible dog owner… I’m pleased we were able to act in the animals’ best interests.”
Warning to owners
One of the rescued dogs has already been successfully rehomed.
Authorities hope the case serves as a warning to others about the consequences of animal neglect.
