Boubou spent the first 7 years of his life being treated as an object. He was removed for neglect, but after a year in kennels, he still hasn't found a family.

Boubou was born in 2016, and unfortunately went to the wrong home.

He spent his entire life in a kennel, used only as a doorbell to warn of visitors or intruders.

Feeling loved for the first time

When he was 7-years-old, Boubou was removed for mistreatment, and moved to the SPA shelter in Normandy, France.

Staff and volunteers hoped he would find a loving family, but a whole year on, he is still waiting.

When he first arrived at the shelter, Boubou had no idea what affection felt like. But it didn't take long for him to come around. Now, he's the first to run over for a cuddle, and he'll happily stand to be petted for hours.

He clearly held no grudge against the people who harmed him, he was just happy to be treated with kindness for the first time in his life.

Still invisible

Unfortunately for Boubou, his looks mean he has become invisible in kennels. He is an older, large, black dog, all of which makes an adoption less likely.

But despite his age, this loveable pup is still active, playful and quick to learn. He just needs someone to teach him all about life in a home.

With patience and kindness, there's no doubt that Boubou will make the ideal companion!
