This superhero doesn't wear a cape or leap across buildings. Instead, he laces up a pair of hiking boots and goes on patrol through a national park in Delaware, USA.
He is, of course, a park ranger, and he recently saved a dog's life!
A new kind of superhero
The big dog fell into trouble after catching heatstroke during a recent walk through the park. His distressed owner tried to help, but he was too exhausted to carry the dog back down the long, steep trail.
Thankfully, park ranger Kris Salapek was on duty. He lifted the dog onto his shoulders and rushed to a nearby stream.
Salapek poured water over the dog, lowering its body temperature to a safe level. He then picked up the dog again and carried him down the rest of the mountain.
All in a day's work for a park ranger
Lexie Daniel was one of the trekkers who witnessed Salapek's heroics. Speaking to the Good News Network, she said:
"It was a LONG distance — a couple of miles down an incredibly rocky path."
Lexie got in touch with the park ranger a few days later, who confirmed that he'd spoken to the owner and that his dog had made a full recovery.
