The poor dog waited for hours in the exact spot where his owner had left him.
The car had sped off after abandoning him, never to return...
Holding out hope
Samson watched every car that pulled into the car park, hoping to see his owner. But they never came back. Fortunately, his luck was about to change when he was spotted by Summer, a volunteer from a rescue centre in the southern United States. She had stopped at the shop to buy some milk when she noticed the dog wandering around.
When she asked the shop staff about him, they confirmed he had been abandoned that very morning. Summer went back to get the dog, but he was no longer in the car park. The rescuer found him a short distance away, behind a petrol station. With the help of some hot dogs, she managed to coax him to safety. Samson then stayed with Summer for two and a half weeks, giving him time to relax and learn to trust again.
A new journey
The vet estimated Samson to be between one and two years old. He had a small scar on his muzzle, which seemed to be from an old injury. The pooch also had several healing wounds on his right front paw, though no one is sure of their origin.
Samson then travelled to the Shultz’s Guest House rescue centre in Massachusetts. He spent no more than five days there! He was adopted by his new family, who had read his story on social media. He is now living a happy life with his family and his canine sister, sharing all his games and walks with her!
