Christmas is a time of miracles – or at least small, amusing misunderstandings. A video on TikTok has now gone viral, after Arlo's owner managed to capture her pup's interaction with Santa Claus.
In the clip, the one-year-old Golden Retriever runs towards the man enthusiastically, trying his best to welcome the bearded man in a red suit.
"Why aren't you petting me?"
It isn't until he reaches Santa that Arlo realises something is off. Father Christmas isn't petting him, leaving the affectionate dog completely bewildered.
As if to say "I'll help myself", Arlo decides to take matters into his own paws - shoving his back under Santa's hand.
The clip has now been viewed over 950,000 times, leaving dog lovers around the world in stitches.
Falling for the trick
Hilariously, Arlo hasn't realised that Santa Claus is fake. It's a doll that's been propped up as a Christmas decoration!
Undeterred, he's determined to make the most of the company of this stranger, happily wagging his tail at him before jumping off the sofa.
And while the loveable Goldie may not have met the real Santa, he most definitely got people smiling.
