When rescue workers in Spain were called to help a hunting dog in need, they had no idea what awaited them.
Arriving on the scene, they found a little Brittany Spaniel in very poor condition.
An urgent rescue
Angel, as Abyda Jaén later named him, had a piece of rope around his neck and body, and this had caused him to get stuck on a fence.
Panicked and confused, the terrified dog showed signs of physical and psychological abuse.
A second chance
Angel was very thin and afraid, explained the rescue in their recent Facebook post. "As a hunting dog, we believe he was used simply as a tool, without any of the care or affection he deserved".
But thankfully, Abyda Jaén were on hand to help, and Angel now has a second chance at happiness.
Physically, his recovery is going well. He has received the right veterinary care and is putting on weight day by day. But for the time-being, he is still very fearful of people. He will need time to recover from his ordeal, and to learn to trust again. The rescue hopes a family will soon come forward, to offer him all the love he deserves.
Here's to a new home soon, Angel! ❤️
