Daisy, then a one-year-old working gun dog, was taken along with three others from garden kennels in Mole Valley.
Understandably, her owners had almost given hope of ever seeing the dog again.
Emotional reunion
However, Surrey Police were alerted when an individual attempted to update Daisy’s microchip information, leading officers to the missing dog.
PC Laura Rowley of the Mole Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team described the reunion as emotional, noting, “There was not a dry eye in the house.” Daisy reportedly recognised her former owners instantly and stayed close to them.
Other pups still missing
The investigation revealed that Daisy had been rehomed by her unaware adopters, who had taken her in believing she was legitimately available for adoption.
Tragically, one of the other stolen dogs was struck by a car and killed while trying to escape shortly after the theft.
The two remaining dogs, Tilly, a black Cocker Spaniel, and Storm, a white Patterdale terrier, remain missing. Surrey Police are appealing to the public for any information that could help locate them.
