The dog was left in the rain with just a small bag of kibble and a blanket. The poor pup was visibly traumatised and in distress.
The dog, having endured rain and isolation, was agitated and difficult to approach, adding to the challenge faced by the SPA team as they worked to calm him.
Thoughtless owners
The shelter took to Facebook to share their concern and dismay over how the dog was abandoned. Leaving a frightened animal in such conditions can put both the animal and staff at risk.
The SPA went on to ask for the owner to either come forward or for anyone to contact them with information to identify the owner. They shared that a tall, thin man driving a black vehicle, similar to an Audi, was seen at the location around the time the dog was left.
Appeal for information
"We understand that situations can be complicated," wrote the SPA, "but we’d prefer people to speak with us directly."
The shelter emphasised the importance of having background information about the dog, including his health and temperament, to enable them to care for him properly. The SPA discouraged negative reactions from the public and instead encouraged everyone to focus on finding information that could help ensure the dog’s well-being and safe care.
