The puppies had no food or water and were in immediate danger from the heavy traffic and extreme weather conditions in Kansas, USA.
The man quickly contacted the Great Plains SPCA, an animal shelter in Kansas, who stepped in to rescue the young dogs.
Heartbroken shelter staff
Shelter staff took to social media to share their heartbreak, saying, “It simply breaks our hearts to see the number of innocent animals abandoned like this.”
As soon as they arrived at the shelter, the exhausted and filthy puppies were immediately taken care of. To their dismay, shelter staff soon discovered that the little puppies were infected with parvovirus, a dangerous illness that can be fatal for young dogs if untreated.
The SPCA immediately launched a social media appeal, seeking donations to cover their medical treatment and urging the public to help.
Hope for puppies
Despite the challenging circumstances, the call for help spread quickly, and all 11 puppies were placed in temporary homes.
While the pups are not yet available for adoption, the shelter remains hopeful that they will recover and eventually find permanent homes with time and care. A Facebook fundraiser for their care has already raised over $800.
Good luck, puppies!
