Sun's story is one of incredible devotion and loyalty to the person who was meant to love and protect her.
Instead, they took her far away from home and left her there. Abandoned and alone, the 2-year-old was heartbroken.
An endless wait
If it had been up to her, Sun would have waited forever for her owner to come back. But two weeks on, it was clear to volunteers that the adorable brown crossbreed needed help.
Rescue organisation Les Pattounes des Îles, who work tirelessly to help stray dogs on Reunion Island, took her in, offering her the safety and attention she deserved.
The sweetest girl
Since her arrival at the rescue, Sun has made a huge impression. She is the most gentle, affectionate girl, who adores everyone she meets.
But while this sweet pup loves people, she can't share her space with other pets, which makes it particularly hard to place her in a foster home.
Because of this the rescue is hoping she'll soon find a family of her own, with plenty of time and patience to help her settle and adjust. In return, they'll get to share their lives with the most wonderful, loyal and loving companion.
In the meantime, the rescue has started a fundraiser to make sure she is well taken care of until she finds a forever home.
