Sophie had always dreamed of owning a Siberian Husky, so she was delighted when she found a puppy. She didn't think twice about bringing him home.
Alarm bells
A few days later, Sophie took the Husky pup to the vet for a check-up. The vet was alarmed to find that the puppy, just four weeks old, was much too young to be separated from his mother. The breeder had sold the puppy prematurely to make a quick profit.
Unfortunately, Sophie had not researched the breeder or checked out the living conditions of the puppy and its mother.
It became apparent that separating the little dog from his mother at such a young age would pose serious challenges. He would now face the difficult task of adjusting to life away from his mother, learning to eat solid food, and missing out on crucial socialisation with his siblings.
Buy from reputable breeders
Sophie is already seeing the impact of her rushed decision. Her new puppy requires extra care and patience to thrive. Thankfully, the vet confirmed the puppy's health was good, providing a glimmer of hope.
Sophie plans to take the puppy for regular check-ups to support his development. However, her experience shows just how important it is to research breeders before buying a puppy. Sadly, there are too many unscrupulous breeders only focused on making money. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and see the puppy with its mother and siblings.
