Kamala Harris reveals she's an advocate for dogs in the workplace

By Greta Inglis

Following Joe Biden's decision not to run for president, a real animal lover could now be the next Democratic candidate. Here's more on Kamala Harris.

Kamala Harris has already made history as US Vice President, notably the first woman to hold this important position in office.

She also has a strong record on animal issues, and is a passionate dog lover.

Canine companions in the office

The Vice President has openly advocated for the inclusion of dogs in office environments, even sharing a post of her dog Harper to Facebook.

"Happy National Puppy Day!", she captioned the image. "Here's Harper, our nearly one-year-old resident office pup doing his thing".

Advocating for animals

The Vice President's political career began as the first female Attorney General in California. She then left law-and-order behind, becoming the first US presidential candidate to help pass, and enforce strict animal protection laws.

Not only did she work to improve conditions for racehorses and farm animals, she also campaigned for the welfare of cats and against puppy mills.

Sharing a collage of adorable office pups to her X account, she wrote "Happy International Dog Day to these four-legged friends who have made my office a whole lot brighter in the last couple of years".
