Despite laws against chaining dogs in Spain, Rayo spent two years confined to a one-square-meter space at the bottom of a staircase, isolated from the world.
Lifetime in chains
The rescue group La Tropa de Isra discovered Rayo on May 31 and immediately sought a foster home or support from an association, offering to cover all expenses. Though they had no space, they freed him from his chains and took him to a vet, where he tested negative for diseases and was neutered.
But despite their best efforts, no one has stepped forward to take him in.
Currently, Rayo is confined in a living room, and the rescue group regrets not being able to provide the care he truly deserves. His years of isolation have left him terrified and mistrustful. "Rayo has literally been destroyed; his life has been ruined," La Tropa de Isra shared.
Hope for Rayo
Over time, Rayo has started warming up to people, slowly learning to trust again. However, his complex character requires a home with someone experienced in handling dogs and willing to work with a trainer.
Rayo’s rescuers are hopeful that a patient and understanding family will come forward to help heal his emotional wounds and provide the loving home he desperately needs.
Despite his long road ahead, Rayo is no longer in the hell he once endured, thanks to his rescuers' compassion and determination.
Good luck Rayo!
