Despite showing no signs of neglect or distress, the dog's situation prompted a passer-by to express outrage on social media, triggering a contentious discussion on pet ownership responsibilities.
Waiting outside shop
A concerned woman shared a photo (now unavailable) in the Facebook group 'Berlin & Dogs,' captioned, "In front of Edeka, another owner has simply left the dog outside alone... unfortunately, people just don't understand."
Accompanied by her own dog, she decided to wait with the unattended animal until its owner returned, fearing potential theft.
This incident sparked a heated exchange among the group's 24,000 members. Many argue it is irresponsible to leave a dog tied up and unsupervised due to the risk of the dog being stolen. "There are so many psychos out there... I wouldn't have a quiet second to shop," one user commented.
Fierce debate
Another person added, "They have to be stolen, then there's a lot of moaning. But it's their own fault. I can't understand it either."
However, some defended the practice. "You write here that all dog owners who don't do things the way you think they should are irresponsible psychos? You've got it all figured out!" one user retorted indignantly.
What do you think? Do you leave your dog outside shops?
