The world's tallest dog, a Great Dane from Iowa, has passed away just days after being awarded the Guinness World Record for his extraordinary height.

Measuring an impressive 0.97 meters (3 feet 2 inches) from his feet to his withers, Kevin stood about 7 feet tall when on his hind legs.

Devastating loss for the Wolfe family

Kevin was only three-years-old at the time of his passing. His owner, Tracy Wolfe, and her two children, aged 10 and 12, are heartbroken by the loss.

In a heartfelt statement, Tracy expressed, "He was just the best giant boy! We are so glad that he was able to break the record and have that light on him."

Tribute to a gentle giant

Kevin's death came after he underwent an unplanned surgery due to an illness. Despite the efforts of Tracy and the veterinary team, Kevin could not be saved. A spokesperson for Guinness World Records conveyed their condolences, stating, "We are deeply saddened to learn that Kevin suddenly passed away after unexpected health complications. Our thoughts and support are with the Wolfe family as they navigate this difficult time."

Kevin was well-loved for his gentle nature and amusing quirks. Despite his grand stature, he was famously "terrified" of the vacuum cleaner and loved to nap, with Tracy humorously noting, "Holding the couch down is his favourite pastime."

While Kevin's record-breaking achievement brought joy and recognition, his family cherishes the memories of their beloved Great Dane who left an indelible mark on their hearts.
