Shelter staff couldn't believe their eyes when they arrived at Priest River Animal Rescue.
A Border Collie had been left tied up outside in the hot sun.
"This is not OK!"
The poor pup was completely terrified by what had happened to him, making it difficult for staff to even get near him.
"This is not OK!", wrote the rescue in a post they shared to Instagram. "He is so scared by the traffic that we can't even get near him", they explained.
Eventually, after calming him down, staff managed to bring the dog to safety. They immediately had him checked by a vet, and found out that he had a microchip.
A shocking reaction
They proceeded to contact the owner, hoping there had been some kind of misunderstanding. The owner picked up the phone, but it didn't take long before they confirmed they had no intention of taking the dog back. Shockingly, they had left him there on purpose!
Now, Buddy has been signed over to the rescue, and he's on the lookout for his forever home. Playful, cuddly and active, he is very ready for a second chance at happiness.
